This temporary visa typically permits you to remain in Australia after your current substantive visa expires while your new substantive visa application is being processed. With this visa, you can stay lawfully in Australia until your substantive visa application is ultimately decided, or if granted in association with judicial review, until those proceedings are completed. Additionally, you may work if you meet the requirements for employment. You will not be able to return if you exit Australia while this visa is in effect.
You must be in Australia when you apply for this visa. If you meet all the eligibility requirements, you must also be in Australia at the time the visa is granted.
