This temporary visa typically permits you to remain in Australia after your current substantive visa expires and while your new substantive visa application is being processed. With this visa, you can lawfully stay in Australia until your substantive visa application is ultimately decided, or if granted in conjunction with judicial review, until those proceedings are concluded. Additionally, you may work if you meet the requirements for employment
You are required to be in Australia when you apply for this visa. If you meet all the eligibility requirements, you must still be in Australia at the time the visa is granted.
